PROBLEMS OF INDIAN AGRICULTURE


◇ SEEDS - Seeds is basic input for attaining higher crop yields. Unfortunately, Good quality seeds are out of reach of majority of Farmers.

◇ SMALL AND FRAGMENTED LAND.

◇ MANURES, PESTICIDES and BIOCIDES - are important for replenishing the Crop but out of reach of many Farmers especially small and marginal.

◇ IRRIGATION - Although India is 2nd largest irrigated country but only 1/3 of total cropped area is under Irrigation.

◇ LACK OF MECHANISATION - Most of the Agricultural operation in India are carried out by hand using simple tools like wooden Plough.

◇ INADEQUATE STORAGE FACILITIES - Storage facilities in small rural areas is almost nill.

◇ INADEQUATE TRANSPORT.

◇ SCARCITY OF CAPITAL.

◇ LACK OF CROP DIVERSIFICATION.
