5. Bhoomi Bandobast Abhiyan -1930

Bilaspur Town

√In A.D.1930, Bilaspur witnessed "Bhoomi Bandobast Abhiyan" against the Excessive Land Revenue as compared to that obtained in adjoining British territories of Kangra and Hoshiarpur districts.

√There were other grievances too, such as:

1. High rates of "Nazrana"

2. Fishing licence fee and other taxes

3. Indiscriminate policy of forest officers.

 4. High-handed Behavior of the Revenue staff, who were publically accused of molesting village ladies.

√ As a protest some kisans of Bhadarpur Pargana refused to supply free firewood to the newly set up settlement staff working in their villages.

√ As a result of which 19 were arrested.

√ A collective fine of Rs 25000 was imposed on the villagers that took part in the movement.
