2. Mahmud Ghaznavi's Invasion - A.D.1009

                                          Mahmud Ghaznavi

                                               

✓Mahmud Ghaznavi was the elder son of Subuktagin, the king of Ghazni - the present-day South Kabul.

✓For 17 times, he attacked India during the period between A.D. 1000 - 1027.

✓In A.D.1009, the riches of the Nagarkot attracted the attention of Mahmud of Ghazni, he captured the fort and looted its riches in his fourth expedition.

✓History corroborates that the king had returned home with a huge booty which comprised diamonds, gold, silver and other valuables that he had plundered from the fort and the Kangra temple. 

✓It is said that the caravan of camels ferrying loads of wealth was nearly a mile long.

✓The loot amounted to seventy million royal dirhams, and the gold and silver ingots amounted to seven hundered thousand four hundered mans in weight, besides plenty of precious stones and embroidered cloths.
